I cannot believe how quickly time has passed. With Franklin's first adoption anniversary and the blog's one year anniversary being so close together, I decided to update the website! There's a new picture of Franklin on the home page, and I added a "Meet the Family" page, which you can check out here.
And, if you're feeling sentimental like me, you can (re)read the blog post that started it all! Welcome to the Family, Franklin Tiger, published October 17, 2023.

For years, I went back and forth on the idea of writing a blog, or writing posts for other people's blogs, but it never interested me enough to pursue. John tried to help me find a subject I'd want to write about, but nothing stuck. Then Franklin came into our life and I finally had a subject I could not only write about consistently, but a subject I would enjoy and love writing about.
The blog started out with me being super nervous to have a kitten. I was a dog person through and through, and even though I loved John's cats, who both quickly became my cats too, we'd always planned on getting a dog together. Not another cat (or at least, not right away). When we adopted Franklin he was so small, and I worried about him. John calls me a helicopter parent, and it's true. How could I not be when this two-pound, nine-week-old kitten is running around, jumping up on things, climbing in closets, and hiding under furniture?
And none of that has changed, LOL. Franklin still does all those things as a nine-pound, one-year-old cat, and I hover over him with a watchful eye like a helicopter keeping track of a car in a high-speed pursuit. However, even though I'm still a helicopter parent, I feel much more secure in myself as a cat mom that, should we ever adopt another cat, or specifically a kitten, I feel confident in my abilities to take care of it and give it the best life John and I can.
Of course, I'm still hoping for a dog next year. Franklin has never really met a dog before, so that makes me nervous but I am not too worried because Franklin loves other cats, and I think his curiosity will be peaked meeting a puppy and he will want to be best friends immediately.
My fingers are tingling over the keyboard. I want to write that article so bad! Franklin meets his new sibling- a puppy! I'm smiling just thinking about it :)
I am not worried at all about Kap. He has lived with dogs before, and I know he'll be an excellent big brother to a puppy, just like he was with Franklin.
